You may have by now heard of the tragedy that happened in the family of Steven Curtis Chapman. Here is the link with more information from Fox News website. It is heartbreaking to hear of news like this. I cannot imagine facing this as a parent. Please pray for God's peace to overwhelm the Chapman family.
Let me encourage you to be present Sunday as we talk about the miracle of Jesus calming the storm for the disciples. Can he calm storms like the Chapman family is facing? Can he calm the storms that you are facing in your life right now? There is no doubt in my mind that he can, that is the confidence I have in the power of Jesus.
Can I ask something of you? Why don't you invite your neighbor to come to worship with you on Sunday? Or your Father, or your golfing buddy, or the lady who works in the cubicle next to you? We aren't the only ones who need to comfort and strength that comes from worshipping the Lord God Almighty - the One that even the wind and waves obey!
One last note - have you put September 14, 2008 on your calendar? That is the day we honor the past and celebrate an exciting future! More about that special day later.
